I started my journey into the world of Massage Therapy in the fall of 2011 after leaving NB and returning home to Halifax to pursue a new career that is closer to my heart. Throughout my varying educational and career paths, I have always known that a position in healthcare is where I truly belong.
I graduated with honours in 2013 from CCMH in Halifax and was the recipient of MTWPAM ‘Wholistic Therapist’ award which is given to a student who shows passion for the profession, desire to affect healing and a nurturing spirit to both clients and fellow therapists. In my previous career I worked with educationally and socially disadvantaged youth, becoming very aware of the influence our environment and institutions have on our mental, physical and spiritual health. The lessons from this work allowed me to experience a deeper sense of compassion for my patients and gave me the opportunity to hone my skills as a facilitator who strives to create an environment for patient growth and change. As a massage therapist, my goal is to offer compassionate care by taking the time to listen and engage with patients to discover the unique purpose for each treatment. Treatments are focused and customized according to the goals of the patient, their health history and clinical assessment findings. My approach is to gently challenge tissue and joints in order to effect positive change, while maintaining client comfort. I enjoy working together with the client to create realistic homecare strategies, and at all times places emphasis on client education. |
